Classification uses the unrounded average. This does not implement credit profiles, borderline promotion, resit caps, excluded modules or institution-specific award rules. Enter completed year averages with their year weights, or modules with their effective weights; do not mix both.

Check your award regulations

This tool estimates a weighted mean and applies common honours bands. It is not for postgraduate merit/distinction awards. Confirm year weighting, module exclusions and rounding before relying on it. A displayed rounded average does not change the unrounded classification band.

Frequently asked questions

What are the typical honours boundaries?

Many UK undergraduate honours programmes use 70 for a First, 60 for a 2:1, 50 for a 2:2 and 40 for a Third. Actual award rules can include credit profiles and borderline provisions.
